Racing fever is shared by the younger members
of the adventurous McDougall family. Charlie (age 10) and
Matthew (age 7) have now started racing Quarter Midgets at
Silver City Track in Meriden, CT. Under the auspices of the
Quarter Midget Association (QMA), this 1/20th of a mile racetrack
offers a lot of excitement on weekends for hundreds of kids
aged from 6 to 16.
In 2004 Charlie and Matthew both completed their
Novice class and now compete in the Senior and Junior novice
divisions, respectively. Charlie competes in a 2001 Nervo/Coggin
kart powered by a GX120 Honda motor while Matthew drives a
1997 Griswold Fasttrack kart. Both are enthusiastic competitors
with Charlie finishing 4th in his most recent race and Matthew
taking 3rd in his first race. Be sure to watch these two young
racers as they rise in the standings.
